The Nineteenth Annual SIGBOVIK Conference

— 9:00pm

Location:
In Person - Probably Rashid Auditorium, Gates Hillman 4401

The Nineteenth Annual SIGBOVIK Conference will take place at Carnegie Mellon University! The Special Interest Group on Harry Q. Bovik (SIGBOVIK) is a multidisciplinary conference dedicated to lesser-known research areas neglected by mainstream conferences, such as:

  • Complexity practice
  • Highlight syntaxing
  • Multi-armed philanthropists
  • Connotational semantics
  • Science computers
  • Data of unusual size
  • And many more!

The not-yet-extended submission deadline is March 23rd. Everyone is encouraged to submit, regardless of affiliation, discipline, rationality, or goodwill. Authors of accepted papers are encouraged (but not required) to give a five minute presentation of their work. Further disinformation will eventually be available at our website (under construction) To keep up with our announcements, subscribe to our low-traffic mailing list. We are working hard to iron out logistics, so the exact time and place of the conference are still to be announced, although its momentum can be easily determined. Its wave function would suggest that it will take place around April 1st, most likely in Rashid Auditorium.

For those not in the know: SIGBOVIK is an evening of tongue-in-cheek academic presentations. If we have a goal, it's to poke fun at our fields and provide a venue for silly ideas with (often, but not always) serious executions. SIGBOVIK has both published proceedings and live talks, and everyone is welcome to participate. All subjects are welcome, although our audience is primarily made up of computer scientists. The best way to get a feel for SIGBOVIK is to look at our past proceedings.
